PRESS"She Came Home" - One Sheet Best of 2005: Draize Train, Pirate Cat Radio, DJ Hot Grits, http://draize.blogspot.com/ "Get your dancing shoes on and make sure the soles are in good shape, because this is one song that will keep you on the floor. This duo doesn't create cheesy trance -- this is hard-hitting techno that takes cues from the best of the '80s Detroit innovators." - Washington Post Going out Gurus http://blogs.washingtonpost.com/going_out_gurus/music/ "New-ish electronic duo from the DC area cuts loose on their debut vinyl, having shook asses nationally with Q and Not U in concert venues. These three tracks are made for the house party, run at about the same tempo, and espouse the bleepiness and thick, cold computerized production of early '90s technoid rhythms. MPC jams that are packed wall to wall with tones and beats, holding down all the buttons and letting all the lights flash. I can see Euro snobs holding their nose at this, but that's not the point – these tracks are built for you to get hot and sweaty over. The only real problem with the record is that there aren't too many others around that most people could suitably fit this into a set with. Outside of that, a good job, and leaves evidence for a strong future in rhythm." - Doug Mozurak, Still Single Column from : http://www.dustedmagazine.com/features/454 "Judging by the three slamming tracks on this Muckamuck 12-inch, Manhunter (Takoma Park, MD-based Ari Goldman and Jason Letkiewicz) will likely sound right at home on Ghostly's upcoming Idol Tryouts Two compilation (specifically the three LP set). Like many of the Ann Arbor label's artists (e.g., James T. Cotton, Peter Grummich), Manhunter's 'intelligent body music' is both sonically innovative and irrepressibly physical. In the A-side's hammering "She Came Home," lashing hand-claps stoke a pulsating storm until the piece explodes with deliriously warped fever at the two-minute mark. The flip's "Testarossa" and "This Means War" are fine too, chugging electro tracks goosed by the succinct mechano-bleat of chattering electronics. Though the duo's material is grounded in Electro, Detroit Techno, and House as opposed to Industrial, Manhunter's tracks unspool with a ferocity that's reminiscent of Kill Memory Crash." - Textura Magazine Jan.2006 http://www.textura.org/newreviewspages/manhunter.htm |
