"Yeahhhh 92Q for busting out some Rah Digga! I'm wildin out on I-95!!!"
-@joemitra on twitter

'There was always wonderful music [in DC] - being sort of the crossroads of north and south with really great country and black music mashing together like elephants and rhinos in the Hadron Collider. It's just, when you live on the bullseye, you feel like you're always in the crosshairs. There were times when the pressure was quite tangible.'

“The reason why we give alot of our tracks aquatic titles is because waves are constantly changing. It moves in so many different directions, and that’s the way we see our music. It doesn’t go straight forward. It takes you on an adventure. We record all our stuff live. You have to capture that moment, that spirit, that energy. We could never recreate one of our records. Every Drexciya record is different. We’re dealing with your personality, your emotions. We try to get you to open your mind up and listen to the sounds, and hopefully then you can paint a picture in your mind. That’s what it’s all about.”

"It's a mean old world / You gotta fight to stay in it, though / You got to scuffle / You gotta be strong / You gotta do your thing."

"Every one of us is precious in the cosmic perspective. If a human disagrees with you, let him live. In a hundred billion galaxies, you will not find another."
-Carl Sagan

"That's the part that always gets me too, when it comes to this set. It's like an aurora put to sound. "
-youtube comment for an Autechre live video

"I got the bidd-ox, let's do this like Brutus"

"I'll always remember the lady crawling around on her hands and knees, pulling fish faces to this track, after someone popped a cassette of the KMS Techno 1 compilation on the Hi-Fi at someones party. Admittedly, there was a shopping bag of freshly picked mushrooms involved, but it is evidence of the fact that once upon a time, techno sounded so alien to people that it really did elicit some strange repsonses."
-youtube comment on R-Tyme - Illusion

"The usher told me I had to be on my best behavior," Rawls recalled. "I said 'For what?' She said, 'The President's sitting right in front to you.' I said, 'Well, he best enjoy the show, because y'all know I don't pull no punches. For $285, y'all know what I do. I have me a good time.' "

"HEY NOW !!! I forgot abut this one , there is soooo much good old music in our memories it is a wonder how there is room for hate and anger."

-youtube.com comment for "I Love You More" by Rene & Angela

"That howl, the howl first heard in this damned Screaming Souls Jungle right by this same stream in the rainy season last year, the last rainy season of the war.  The howl from the valley on the other side of the mountains, echoing down to us.  Some said it was the mountain ghosts, but Kien knew it was love's lament."

-Bao Ninh, "The Sorrow of War"

"The seekers of oblivion sing and clap their hands lazily; their dream-voices ring out late into the night...Then little by little, the voices fall, grow muffled, the words are slower. Finally the smokers are quiet, and merely stare at the flowers in ecstacy."
-Isabel Eberhardt, from The Oblivion Seekers

"
...you got people like “Is that all the record do?”. Yeah bitch, that’s all the record do. Yep your lazy ass needs to do some other shit with it."
-Omar S

"
Once I saw a prizefighter boxing a yokel.  The fighter was swift, and amazingly scientific.  His body was one violent flow or rapid rhythmic action.  He hit the yokel a hundred times while the yokel held up his arms in stunned surprise.  But suddenly the yokel, rolling about in a gale of boxing gloves, struck a blow and knocked the science, speed, and footwork as cold as a well-designer’s posterior.  The smart money hit the canvas.  The long shot got the nod.  The yokel simply stepped inside his opponent's sense of time.  So under the spell of the reefer I discovered a new analytical way of listening to music.  The unheard sounds came through, and each melodic line existed of itself, stood out clearly from all the rest, said its peace, and waited patiently for the other voices to speak.  That night I found myself hearing not only in time, but in space as well.  I not only entered the music but descended, like Dante, into its depths."
-Ralph Ellison,
Invisible Man

BEAUTIFUL SWIMMERS RETURN WITH "BIG COAST"!!!!

SWIMMERS COAST

"Beautiful Swimmers return! "Big Coast" sees the Swimmers bring more influences into the vibe, from the reggae chunk, Sleeping Bag trumpets, and percussive tidal wave of the title track to the 808 kraut spiral of "Touch Base," a cut that sounds like Tangerine Dream doing some heavy breathing in Ghana. Rounding out the 12 is "Give It All You Got," a relentless, strutting disco stormer people have beem asking us about for almost a year now."

"BIG COAST" IS AVAILABLE RIGHT NOW @ THE USUAL PHYSICAL SUSPECTS, AND @ BEATPORT

GIRLS DREAM 12

MAXMILLION DUNBAR'S New 12" featuring the out of focus disco cut "Girls Dream" was released Monday June 28th via RAMP Recordings. "Girls Dream" is from his forthcoming album Cool Water, coming out later this year, also on RAMP.
Max also did an edit of the rare boogie cut 'Joyce' by The Solicitors, recently unearthed by ever insane label PPU.  Also be sure to check his new mixtape for LuckyMe Mag

Grab it digitally here, or check for one of the physical versions at Boomkat, Juno, Rush Hour etc. Copies are limited!

Other news:

Swimmers did a remix of a track by Cheateau Marmont for the Institubes label outta France.  The special remix edition of the band's Nibiru EP will also feature remixes by Gavin Russom and Oneohtrix Point Never.  Nitey nite dub for the lonely-hearted and sophisticated.

*Protect-U has recorded new material, and also has a track coming out on a 12" sampler curated by the No Pain in Pop blog (UK).

INNERGAZE

*Rugged synth wavers Innergaze just released their debut LP "We Are Strange Loops'" on Touch Your Life.  Nasty vibes on this one.  Order your copy now from Confused House before they're all gone.  Limited press!

*L.I.E.S. is a new label out of Brooklyn, New York and they have just released their debut effort, a three song ep by Malvoeaux. Malvoeaux is yet another alias of Futures Times affiliate Jason Letkiewicz who you may know from his Rhythm Based Lovers and Steve Summers projects. This is perfect summer time party music reminding us of Roule records and Soundstream releases of the past. Definite deep vibes for you and yours. Available exclusively through Rush Hour overseas and at A-1 Records if you are up in NYC. You can get them from the label too if you can figure out how to get in touch with Ron. Limited to 500 copies. Listen and purchase here. Up next for L.I.E.S. will be the debut ep by Two Dogs in a House, which is four songs of total Joe Lewis/Target Records tweaker tracks...should drop in late June...stay tuned.

*Speaking of Steve Summers, he has a new 12" coming
out on Echovolt (Greece) called "Lucid Fingers."  Re-create your own WBMX fantasies. Mr. Summers also crafted an ill new vocal version of Sterling Void's "Serve it Up" which will be out on Clone
as part of the Classic Cuts series. The release also features a rare original instrumental version.

*FrequeNC homies are putting out the Alan Hurst LP.  The mysterious Professor Hurst has spent years studying contemporary universal analogistics and graphical sine binaries and fused together a wonderful trip into library synth bliss.

PROTECT-U
"Double Rainbow" 12"

"Double Rainbow" is the first 12" single by DC's Protect-U partnership. A dripping bell loop drops over 707 patterns and deep bass as A side "Double Rainbow" twists, turns, and grows into a highlife house dream. The B side "Toughen Up" is tropical electro-funk gyrating in and out of itself, a 90 BPM churner for all the people out there (like us) living in that Nu Pangea where the genres fall apart."

You may also recall Protect-U's island stormer "Protection" from our last release, the "Vibe 1" compilation 12"

Be sure to check out the live set by Protect-U, just uploaded to our mixes section. Features a live performance of both "Protection" and "Double Rainbow".
